We are an independent Mexican non-profit organization (A.C.) and receive no financial support from our government. The goal is simple and one that we share with everyone who contributes to the work that we do; protect, conserve, and rescue marine wildlife. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and directly supports that work that we do. Every dollar that we receive funds stranding response, rescues, and patient rehabilitation. Donate Your Stuff!
Repurpose your old towels, sheets, buckets, tools, paint, hardware, fridge/freezers, rubber boots, dog crates, microscopes, shovels, tarps, ropes, binoculars, buoys, washing machines, boating equipment, camera equipment, vehicles, trailers, etc. There's no limit to what might be useful to us in some way, plus you get to save these items from ending up in a landfill! Friends of MMWRC can arrange delivery from the USA for larger, or higher value items.

Local Response
Much or our time and resources are spent responding to stranding reports. Anything within a 3 hour radius by car or boat is considered a local response. Some rescues take several attempts because the complexity of the case may require us to assess and monitor the animals' condition, behavior, and routine for a few days. Help us with our ongoing expenses to cover fuel, and fund a local stranding response. Your donations make these rescues possible!
Patient Care
Each year 10-15% of the live stranded animals we respond to end up receiving rehabilitative care with MMWRC. This happens when an animals' health is severely compromised due to illness, injury, or malnutrition and they will otherwise stand no chance of survival if left in their natural environment. The cost of patient care is high includes life saving diagnostic costs, treatments and medications, supplemental nutrition, and our veterinary supplies. Cover the cost of a week of care for one of our patients and get them one step closer to their reintroduction to the wild!

Buy Fish
Contribute to the cost of buying fresh fish and paying local fishermen.
We feed our patients high quality fish and invertebrates intended for human consumption. We purchase this from reputable suppliers and local fishermen. These artisanal fishers target specific species to suit our patients' needs and catch live bait fish that we use prior to every reintroduction to help us ensure our patients are ready to hunt on their own when they are return to the ocean.
Disentangle a Sea Lion or Whale
On disentanglement days we visit an area where we have recently observed a number of entangled sea lions and attempt to disentangle as many of them as possible. These campaigns involve a lot of planning and coordination, and require many resources from fuel, to medications, to specialized tools, equipment, and supplies. These rescues are performed in the field, sometimes while the sea lion is under light sedation. Only critical cases will be brought back to our facility for further treatment and care.
